University of Alabama Research on Intellectual DisabilitiesThe University of Alabama Intellectual Disabilities Participant Registry matches children and adults who have intellectual disabilities to appropriate research studies. Families can help researchers better understand intellectual disability and how to meet its challenges by enrolling in the participant registry. All studies served by the registry are low-risk to participants, not-for-profit, approved for research ethics and voluntary. The registry is currently enrolling children and adults from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida who have any type of intellectual disability, such as Down syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome and fragile x syndrome.
